I thank you
03:44
|
|||
This is for the people who inspired me
For the dancers and the freaks who filled my heart
This is for the people who invite me
And offer me a bed between the stars
You saved my day
In case we’d never meet again I thank you
This is for the ones who shared their beauty
This is for the people who I love
For the foxes and the ladies who convinced me
That there truly are some good souls in this world
You saved my day
I’m so sorry I forgot to say “I thank you.”
I thank you
You saved my day
It turned into a glorious day
I thank you
I thank you
I thank you
for all.

Spacecake
03:45
|
|||
we check our new invention
we've called it spacecar
it's clever built construction's made to reach the stars
we're lifting off the ground
touching the clouds
drunken angels blaming us for burning down their towns
hotel room supper waits
but we do not appear
until now noone had noticed we're not there
mayday!
we're going to sink in a spacecake
our master is leading us into disaster
mommy!
i've got an ache in my tummy
could you leave the light on tonight?
We choose a new direction
it's getting too quiet
we thought to hear a goggle box
that played good tunes tonight
our map is leading us
into nowhere
we've never seen this place before
of course we do not care
did you see the shooting star that crawled with elephants?
let's wish we'd never have to go to bed again...
mayday!
we're going to sink in a spacecake
our master is leading us into disaster
mommy
i've got an ache in my tummy
could you leave the light on tonight?
could you leave the light on tonight...?

Vampires
03:21
|
|||
The vampires come
The vampires come
They come to have a party
They’ re dressed in white
They’ re so polite
I’d like them to invite me
The vampires dance
They winsomely dance
They know how to impress me
And these charming lips
Of Roberta Smisss
If they only could undress me
I sent her roses from my bed
But with a twinkle she regrets:
“I won’t fall in love with a garlic clove.
I won’t fall in love with a garlic clove.”
The vampires booze
And how they can booze
They know this from the cradle
They’re cheating cards
with the spiders from mars
and drink them under the table
The vampires sing
The vampires swing
Oh, Roberta- please confuse me!
I`ll be lost in hell
I’m underneath your spell
If you only could abuse me
I’m so lonely in my bed
I’d like to kiss the Dead instead
But they won’t make love to a garlic clove
Won’t make love to a garlic clove
I’d like to join their company
But they are keeping clear of me
They won’t fall in love with a garlic clove
They’ ll never be in love with a garlic clove.
(oohoohoohooohoooo....)

Me and her
04:50
|
|||
I never noticed her, she was too small
She used to hide inside my sandbox walls
She said I was the nicest boy around
But all I answered was: “I tell your mom you spoiled my house!”
She played the base-drum in a big parade
I saw her marching on the first of may
I shouted from the crowd her sound was great
But all she answered was: “I don’t understand one word you say!”
We were older when we met in a pub
She loved the Beatles and the Wizard of Oz
I made her mixtapes full of heartshaped songs
But all she answered was: “I sold my tapedeck years ago.”
So I invited her to dance at last
I'm not a dancer, but I tried my best
And as I concentrated on my steps
She left me standing and went over there to join her friends
Somehow we made it to this riverboat
The moon was shining, but she’d lost her coat
So hard she trembled, so I offered her mine
But all she answered was: “No need for that, I’m feeling fine.”
and more and more it feels like we’re simply not meant to fall in love.
Last time I met her on a sunny day
She had just been divorced of husband Ray
She said: ”Hello...” with a wink in her eye
But I said: “Sorry! I have to be at home in time!”
More and more I’m sure that we’re simply not meant to fall in love.
No. No. No. No. - we will never make it
No. No. No. No. - we’re not meant to fall in love
she only whispers when she speaks
I'm only staring at my feet
we are too clumsy to succeed
guess we’re not meant to fall in love
No. No. No. No. -We will never make it
No. No. No. No. -We’re not meant to fall in love
No. No. No. No.- We will never make it.
We will never fall in love.

Monster
03:19
|
|||
there's a little monster in my bed
and says: “You're dead! You're really dead!”
to call an ambulance makes no sense
there is no doubt-
you bid the ground
there's no need to be amazed
and make this flabbergasted face
I tell you:
so many people are dead
but don't feel so
they pose alive but in fact
it's a freak show
so many people are dead
but don't feel so
I've got their lives in my bag
now I need yours”
then the tiny hairy monster started to dance
and he jumped around
and made a face like a clown
and said: “I'm in a hurry, so pack your stuff!
It's nearly quarter to eight
and I don't want to be late-
it's a slightly different hell,
but we've got a prime time there as well
just like you're used to...
so many people are dead
but don't feel so
their lines are definitely flat
just their beards grow
so many people are dead
but don't think so
in fact they rot in their beds
and they stink so”
but then I kicked the little monster out of my bed
and said: “Hey, Gnome- that's the end of your show!
I don't believe a single word you say.
I love my life and you waste my time!
Over there you see the door!
Don't want to smell you here anymore-
and don't forget your slimy shoes-
the only one who stinks is you!”
and as the little monster jumped out of my window
I sang him this tune:
“So many monsters are dead
but don't feel so
they like to see you upset
so they tease you
So many monsters are dead
as the pope is
you gotta give them the boots
without notice
all your monsters are dead!
so kick them out of your head!
all your monsters are dead!
so kick them out of your head!”

The red balloon
05:24
|
|||
1.
in the corner of the park
in the day and in the dark
stands a seller of red balloons
one is shaped like a chewing gum bubble
and another one’s a smiling moon
when I go to sleep at night
I prepare to take a flight
On my favourite red balloon
Who spits fire like a magic dragon
And I know he’ll be my best friend soon
We’ll run races against the airplanes
And play hide and seek in the clouds
My dragon will carry me forward
To the hillside where he was born
To the hillside where he was born...
2.
when the sun began to rise
I pulled my fathers arm and cried:
“Oh, please buy me a red balloon!
It’s my only wish in this wide world.
Please, Daddy- make my dream come true...”
But Daddy growled at me instead:
“Only nonsense in your head!
There’s no use for a red balloon!
You’d better learn how to count and save money
´cause you’ll gonna be a grown-up soon...”
Could not hold back all my teardrops
That went to run down my cheeks
Should I never be riding this dragon
Who’s so lonely and will wait for me?
He’s so lonely and will wait for me
3.
so I ran and went down to the park with my bike
as fast as you can when you’re five
did not recognize that I cried until I arrived
4.
in the corner of a bench
with a bottle in his hand
sat the seller of red balloons
but his balloons had all gone with the wind
and now he didn’t know what to do
so I took him by the hand
and I asked him ‘bout my friend
and he said: “Well, your red balloon...
he took also the ride with the wind
but I’m sure he’ll find his way back home.”
but he drew me,
As a present,
A picture of me and my friend
And he put it into my pocket
And said: “I hope we’ll meet again!”
He said: “I hope we’ll meet again!”
...he said: “I hope we’ll meet again”
but I never saw his face again...

Painted world
03:01
|
|||
If all the people in the world agreed
That every childhood should be lived in peace
And every child became a proper man
Who’d never think to hold a gun in his hand
The NRA would lose all memberships
Courts would close and crime would not exist
And all policemen who got rid of work
Would teach the students how to sing like a bird
Will we be better
Will there be good weather
In our painted world?
Will we be easy?
Or will we stay as greedy as before?
Can we be sure?
no. no. no. no. no.
If all computers in the world would crash
We’d pile them up to see them burn down to ash
And as there was no world wide web anymore
it could be nice to ask a neighbour next door
And if your neighbours find an answer again
And stop to gaze into their idiot lamps
I believe one billion neighbours will leave their flats
So overwhelmed to see the sunball set
Will we be better
And pull ourselves together
In our painted world?
Will it be the dawn of new era?
Or the calm before the terror storms again?
Can you be sure, my friend?
no. no. no. no. no.
Will we be better
Will it even matter
In our painted world?
Will everything be hunky-dory?
Or is heaven just too boring without hell?
Can we ever tell?
no. no. no. no. no.

1.
we hear a sound
from underground
this is the sign
we raise our heads
jump out of bed
it’s time to leave
they use to say
we`d waste our days
on stupid dreams
we know they sigh
we know they cry
but what do they know
....
about us?
2.
We climb the trees
and sail the seas
that’s what we need
we see it’s true
the sky is blue
just like our souls
we’re floating proud
through our favourite clouds
which are shaped like birds
we say hello
to a crow named Joe
what does he know...
about us?
What the hell does he know... about us?
3.
I am the ground
You are the fire
We are the air
And the only thing
we have to fear
is fear itself
we’re looking down
and have to laugh
about their cars
all stuck in these roads
where will they go?
What the hell do they know...
about us?
What the hell do they know about us?
they’ll never know about us.

River of time
05:53
|
|||
We're two sailors on the river of time
we're two of one kind
your ship is as clapped-out as mine
but still floats with the tide
your route was as tangled as mine
don't you think this is true?
Though the water here's peaceful and quiet
we still can't get rid of this blues
we don't want to get old
but get older every day
and still try to get by
but we'd like to get wise
for once wiser than today
on this river of time
we've seen thunder, tornadoes and storms
we've been so sick from the sea
became familiar with the hush that comes after the war
and this haunting thirst to be free
yearning and heavy waved our souls on the breeze
embracing the world with one hand
and we eavesdropped the grasshopper's songs in the field
that tought us the blues once again
we don't want to get old
but get older every day
and still try to get by
on our way to get wise
for once wiser than today
on this river of time
we're all sailors on the river of time
we're all drifting through life
some others have sunken too soon
but somehow we survived
and all those years
we set sails side by side, you and I
now we notice it's true
so we set course to the mouth
and take the youth in our hearts
towards the ocean of blue
and accept to get old
and to get older day by day
that we try to get by
and we'll never be wise
not even wiser than today
but for today I don't mind
so let's go ahead and waft down overboard,
land on the pillows of the waves
and dream away with the tide
I would like to swim home
and I feel home when I'm with you
in the river of time
...and I won't let you pass
'cause we'll be passing anyway
on the river of time

and not any
07:22
|

1.
Not any gifted writer could tell me how my story goes
And not any taxidriver could tell me when I lost my road
And not any entertainer could sing away my troubled mind
And not any of my failures could teach me how to get them right
And there isn’t anyone who tells me where I’ve been
And noone who tells me what I need
I‘m alone on this road and don’t know where to go
Waiting for a route advisor at the crossroads
Who tells me where the fuck I’ll be alive
2.
not any kind of mother could tell this son the sense of war
and not any education could ever teach him what we’re fighting for
and not any “Hallelujah!” would lead his heart a way to God
and he’s longing for a true love- but overlooks the love he’s got
and there isn’t anyone who’ll ever notive when he cries
and noone who’ll ever know how hard he tries
to find a place that feels like home
where he could rest his restless bones
he failed to find a sole survivor on his journey
who could tell him why the fuck he is alive
3.
and not any famous painter
could ever draw her eyes the way they are
and no moral keeper told me if she’s been the one I was meant for
she’s the only one I wait for, but for now I have to let her fly
‘cause not any kind of sweet home
would ever make a bird forget the sky
and nobody in this world could ever tell me how to leave
to travel west while my heart lies in the east
and I’m afraid that I could die without her teardrops by my side
but stunned by brilliant beams of sunlight rising above us
I guess it’s time to be alive again

our blanket skies Germany
some years ago this odd but gentle troubadour and storyteller who is aka "our blanket skies" went out for a long walk and didn't even write a postcard. For once he wrote a few new tunes in the meanwhile and is looking forward to present them to you as soon as he's finished the dishes. ... more
